Harangi Dam is located in a picturesque and peaceful setting above a small stream called Harangi River, from the important Kaveri River. The Harangi River rises in the Pushpagiri Hills of Western Ghat
The dam is built against a small tributary of the Cauvery River, called Harangue, in Hadgur village, Hadgur, and is mainly a combined visit with Cauvery Nishargadhama, located 8 or 10 km from the dam.
The Harangi River rises in the Pushpagiri Hills and travels a distance of 50 kilometers before meeting the main Kaveri or Cauvery River. Water is dependent on the southwestern monsoon and heavy rainfall as it is a seasonal fall.
The dam is located at a distance of 9 km from the town of Kushalnagar in Coorg and is a wonderful example of civil engineering. The place is becoming one of Coorg’s main attractions and is gaining popularity over time.

There is a small garden near the dam and a stone statue of the goddess Cauvery. Just around the reservoir is the Chamundeshwari Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi
