Sringeri Sharada Peetha
Sringeri is one of the most essential places to visit in Chikmagalur, in terms of places of pilgrimage. It is famous for sheltering Sharada Peetham – the first peetham ever created on a total of four peethams established by Sri Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. Surrounded by Western ghats, Sringeri Mutt is located on the banks of the Tunga River and is a place of great beauty. It is a perfect amalgam of natural beauty, art, history, mythology and architecture.
