The Umaid Bhawan Palace was initially known as Chittar Palace;  is one of the world’s most luxurious private residences. While a portion of the palace remains utilized for the Royal Family of Jodhpur, another part has been left by the Taj Group of Hotels. It is currently being operated as a historic hotel by the Taj Group of Hotels.

The palace is home to 347 rooms and is divided into three sections. The first part houses the palace’s royal residence, while the part is the heritage hotel, and the third is an art museum. Its Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum showcases the 20th century’s history that was the history of the Jodhpur Royal Family. The MuseumMuseum also houses an exhibit hall that showcases the vehicles belonging to members of the Family.
It is believed that the Umaid Bhawan Palace was first known as”the Chittar Palace due to its position on the Chittar Hill, which is the highest spot in Jodhpur. The palace’s construction was started in 1929 in order to create jobs for thousands during the famine.
