Ladakh Thiksey Gompa is famous for its 12 meter Shakyamuni Buddha statue. It is said to be the second largest such statue in the entire Ladakh region. Thiksey Gompa: Thiksey Monastery is one of Ladakh’s most popular Buddhist monasteries. It is 19 km from Leh.

The structure of this magnificent gompan looks like the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. The Thiksey Gompa Complex has 12 floors and is rich in Buddhist art such as Stuppas, murals, swords, statues and thangkas. Gompan is said to be the largest Gompa in Central Ladakh. The Maitreya (future Buddha) temple is one of the most important points of interest here. The abovementioned monasteries are very popular during the Leh Ladakh tours in India. There are other popular monasteries that can be visited during Ladakh excursions.

During this festival you will have a great opportunity to witness the Buddhist tradition and Mask Dance of Ladakh. Shey Gompa:  Shey Gompa is a monastery located at the distance of 15 km from Leh. Shey is also famous for Shey Palace Complex and beautiful valleys
