Kemmangundi

Kemmanagundi is also known as KR Hills, after King Mysore Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. Hypnotized by the beauty of the place, he made Kemmangundi his summer retreat. He later donated this resort to the Karnataka government. The horticultural department of Karnataka is now developing and maintaining the station and its surroundings. The department cultivates a lot of ornamental plants here. Kemmanagundi is one of the main attractions that you must include in Chikmagalur packages.
According to the puranas, Kemmangundi was called Chandra Drona Parvatha. Water spouting countless herbs and medicinal plants is known to cure many diseases, including colds and skin conditions. The area is covered with coffee and tea plantations and thick bamboo plantations forming a dense canopy.
