Hunder Village sits like an cold desert in the Nubra Valley of Jammu and Kashmir. Seven km from Diskit, known for its Buddhist monastery, Nubra has achieved a reputation for its sand dunes, the surrounding cold desert, Bactria camels and its breathtaking natural beauty.
Near the Siachen Glacier and the Pakistani border in Jammu and Kashmir in northern India, access outside the village of Hunder has been blocked as the Indian Army controls the area ahead. Hunder is about 160 km from Leh, and you have to cross Khardung La, the world’s highest driveway in a distant village.
Hunder Sand Dune just looks like a fairy from the world. In addition to the beauty, the dunes are inhabited by Bactrian Camels, the main players in the ancient silk route, and Pashmina goats. Tourists can also go on a safari at Bactrian Camel, which takes them back to a time when shopping was quite prominent in Central Asia and the remote village of Hunder.
