Located at the top of Pratumnak Hill, the 18 meter high Golden Buddha is popular with locals and tourists alike. It is the largest Buddha image in the Thai province of Chonburi.
When you arrive at the temple, you will be greeted by a grand staircase flanked by two golden Naga leading to the Big Buddha at the top of the hill. After borrowing the long staircase, you will enter a large patio that houses many Buddha statues surrounding the Giant and Golden Buddha. If you walk to the edge, you’ll have great views of Jomtien and the ocean.
It is not only a tourist attraction, but Wat Phra Yai is also a temple revered by Thais and Buddhists who come here to pray and make offerings. Be respectful during your visit and dress appropriately.
