Big Buddha of Phuket is one of the most important and most revered monuments of the island. The big picture is at the top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and, at 45 meters high, can be seen from as far as Phuket Town and Karon Beach.

The high site offers the best 360 degree views of the island, with panoramic views of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon, Chalong Bay and more. Relatively easy to access via a winding 6 km road leading from Phuket’s main artery, it is a must-see destination on the island.

Nestled on top of Phuket’s famous summit above Chalong Bay, the 45-meter high or officially known Big Buddha, Ming Mongkol is one of the most important tourist spots on the island. Entirely financed by donations from the public, the statue was under construction for a very long time. Now that it is finished, a visit to this idol entirely made of white marble is worth a visit. When you reach the summit, an impressive view of the south coast of the island and the Andaman Sea awaits you. If the visit takes place at the right time, you will also be treated to a fabulous sunset. Another beautiful Buddha statue, a little smaller entirely made of brass, is also impressive. The place is a temple very revered by locals and of great importance to Thai Buddhists. Be respectful of temple customs.
