140km north of Gangtok is the famous Yumthang Valley in northern Sikkim. It is known as the “Valley of flowers,” a unique and exotic area with thermal springs and rivers, yaks, and green meadows. This valley, at an elevation of 3,564m, is a haven for nature lovers. It houses the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which contains more than 24 species.
The Yumthang Valley is closed to tourists from December to March due to heavy snowfall in the area. The Yumthang Valley is home to some hot springs believed to have healing powers. The region is dotted with lush green forests of silver fir and pine trees, as well as a green meadow. You can view the Yumthang Valley’s gushing streams and waterfalls as you travel to it. There is also a spectacular view of the peaks of Shundu Tsenpa and Pauhunri.
