How to Reach By Air

Flying to Ladakh is the best and easiest way to get there. You can fly to Ladakh from many places during peak season and off-season. The coronavirus pandemic is causing some flight changes.

Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is the nearest airport located in Leh, and the airport is just 3.8km from the city center. Kushok Bakula Rimpoochee Airport has good connections to many Indian airports, including Delhi, and it receives flights from Srinagar and Jammu and other popular destinations in India.

It takes approximately one and a quarter hours to fly from Delhi to Leh. International travelers can board direct flights from major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Mumbai to Leh Airport and Ladakh. A few taxis are available outside the airport, and you may also book a cab to get to your destination.

How to Reach By Road

There are two routes to Leh Ladakh: one via Manali in Himachal Pradesh and one via Srinagar. Ladakh is located 434 km from Srinagar and 494 kilometers from Manali.

You can either hire a car, a jeep, or board a JKSRTC bus to reach Leh. Both ordinary and deluxe buses depart from Kargil and run between Leh, Srinagar at regular intervals.

Depending on your time, you can also take a bike ride to Leh from Srinagar or Manali, Delhi, Chandigarh, or Chandigarh. Due to heavy snowfalls, you can only travel by road to Ladakh from May through September.

How to Reach By Train

Ladakh is not accessible directly by train, as there is no station. Jammu Jammu Tawi, located 700 km from Ladakh, is the nearest railway station, and it is well connected to Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. You can either hire a taxi or board a JKSRTC-bus from Jammu to reach Ladakh.
