The cultural heritage that is the culture of Kashmir is a mix of diverse customs that came originally from Northern India, Northern Pakistan and the Chinese territory of Aksai Chin. The state is a home to a variety of multiple religions, which is the reason Kashmir is renowned for its rich cultural heritage. It’s a blend of Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and Buddhist people who have made Kashmir more beautiful by embracing their own cultural traditions, which has resulted in many changes to their lifestyles.

Origin: Background And People

The Kashmiri populace is an ethno-linguistic group which can be compared to an Indo-Greek based on their racial structures of the Kashmiris. The indigenous Kashmiri population lives throughout Pakistan, Upper Punjab and Potohar where they form groups and live in. While Kashmiri people live in various regions of India they are mostly gathered around their home in the Valley of Kashmir, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban tehsils of Jammu Division. The language of Kashmiri people is strongly affected by the Sanskrit language and is mainly spoken by Kashmiri Muslims and Kashmiri Hindus. But, there are differences in their spoken language when you travel across different regions of Kashmir. The writing script of Kashmir is Arabic style.

According to reports, Wazwan and their culture is heavily affected by Central Asian and Persian culture. Their music, dance and cuisine, as well as carpet weaving , and Koshur Sufiana form a large element of Kashmiri culture. Music And Dance

Kashmir is a unique style of dance and music that is simple and wonderful. Every festival and fair includes music and dancing which is an attraction for visitors too. There are a variety of music and dance that are performed depending on the event. One of the most well-known dance styles is the Mask dance which takes place during Hemis Festival. The dancers dress in vibrant costumes with a face mask, brocade robes. They also perform ritual dances. Other dance forms that are popular include Chakri, Ladishah, Ruf dance, and Dandaras dance. Roul, Dogri and Wuegi-Nachun are just a few forms of folk dancing.

Kashmiri people are awed by folk music and dance to the most well-known Rabab music. The most commonly used instruments in this style of music include Sitar, Dukra and Nagara. Wanawun, Ghazals, Sufi and Choral are among the most popular music styles in Kashmir which are played at weddings and during festivals.
