Tadiandamol is the highest peak of Karnataka and even hikers can take this moderate trekking route, the trail constituting a decent climb, except after Rock Point, from where the trail becomes a little narrower.

Located at an altitude of 5730 feet, Tadiyandamol is the second highest peak of Karnataka after Mullayangiri in the Baba Budan range. The name Tadiyandamol literally means the highest mountain in Kodava. With its gentle slopes and velvety green, Tadiyandamol is one of the most exquisite treks of Karnataka and is also known to some.

It is a 14 km trekking trip that takes you through the vast expanse of Shola forests, countless meadows and streams. The summit is accessible from Nalakand Palace (7 km) at the foot of the hill. It has historical significance since it was built by Dodda Veerarajendra in 1792 to house his army against the British. It is a day trek that makes it even more feasible for city dwellers, whether beginners or trekking enthusiasts. The trek from Nalaknad Palace to the summit of the peak is moderate and takes about 3 to 4 hours one way.

September to May is the best time for trek Tadiyandamol. It is advisable to use a guide to travel the summit. Several home stay options are available near Nalaknad Palace and Kakkabe. No authorization is required to travel to the top of Tadiyandamol. Camping is allowed on the peak. Camping at the top of Tadiyandamol in the midst of breezy winds is a completely exciting experience.

How to reach

The city of Kakkabe is about 250 km from Bangalore and 135 km from Mysore. A car trip is a convenient and hassle free option if you know the region and the region in general. After reaching the city of Kakkabe, the base camp is located a little further, near a large rock which is a major landmark of the trek. Many bus depots are also available for the journey from Virajpet, 25 km from Kakkabe.
