How to Reach Andaman

Andaman Islands nestled in the Indian Ocean are a haven for tourists. The region is home to beautiful beaches and a colonial past. There are 572 islands in Andaman, of which only a handful can be inhabited. Andaman is part of the Indian Subcontinent. Indian tourists are not restricted from travelling. It’s very similar to travelling to any other country in the country. You don’t need a passport, visa, or other permission. You are allowed to stay as long as you like in the permitted areas.

By Air

Flying from India is the fastest way to get to Andaman. Pro-tip: Fly early in the morning so you have time to use the rest of your day.

By Sea

You can also travel by sea, although this is not recommended. Haddo Wharf, the main port in Port Blair, is where you will find it. Ships sail from Kolkata and Chennai up to four times per month, and only one from Visakhapatnam. Travel time is approximately 3-4 days (50-60 hours).

 

The passenger ships that sail between Andaman, India and mainland India are not cruise ships. They have limited food options and are not able to entertain themselves. Tourists who travel between May and October are more likely to get sea-sickness. If you are looking for an adventurous adventure in the blue sea, we recommend that you only travel by ship. The booking process can be time-consuming. Tickets cannot be purchased at the Tickets Corporation offices in Chennai, Calcutta, and Visakhapatnam.
