Bhadra Dam A major landmark in Chikmagalur, Karnataka is the Bhadra Dam built on the Bhadra River, a tributary of the famous Tungabhadra River. The dam became more powerful after people in the area began using water for irrigation and generating electricity for the surrounding towns and villages. The dam was commissioned in 1965. The river originated in Samse, in the powerful Western Ghats, and then began to flow eastward across the Deccan Plateau.
The main tributaries are Somavahini, Thadabehalla and Odirayanahalla. Bhadra crosses the city of Bhadravathi and the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. Then, it meets the Tunga River at the Koodli River and the combined river flows to the east under the name of Tungabhadra. Belavadi Veera Narayana temple

Belavadi Veera Narayana temple was built in the 13th century by the king of Hoysala, Veera Bhallala II. This temple is dedicated to Load Vishnu in three different forms. Although Belur and Halebid are famous for their intricate carvings, this temple is one of the best examples of Hoysala architecture. The west side of the temple consists of a square garbhagriha, a sukanasi, a Ranga mandapa and a maha mantapa square. The entire structure was built on an elevated platform. The entire temple is built of soapstone and it is thought that this temple was built in two phases. The temple is trikuta (three vimanas) with Sri Veera Narayana in the center facing east, Sri Venugopala in the north and Sri Yoganarasimha in the south. The sanctuaries of Lord Krishna and Lord Narayana were added later.
