Char Dham Yatra : A Sacred Route Connecting Four Hindu Deities

Char Dham Yatra is a religious odyssey that covers four major Hindu pilgrimages in Uttarakhand – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Adi Sankracharya created the foundation stones of these four pilgrimages in the 8th century. There are several myths and legends associated with each pilgrimage within this sacred tour. Every year about 3 lakh pilgrims spend this trip from May to October in search of salvation. Hindu devotees have a firm belief in the theory that Char Dham Yatra can wash away the sins of his life.

The pilgrims who make this long and taxing journey are reluctant to trust divinity on earth and will strongly decide to pay respect to the Almighty’s feet. When you pick up the Char Dham Yatra 2012 package, you will come across the following destinations: 1.Gangotri Gangotri is part of Char Dham Yatra, a small town on the banks of the Bhagirathi River at 3,100 meters in the Greater Himalayas. The pilgrim is dedicated to the Yoga god Ganga who flows here in the name of Bhagirath. The evening Aarti at Gangotri Temple is the most attractive sight of this place. The temple was built by General Amar Singh Thapa in the 19th century. 2.Yamunotri Located at an elevation of 3,293 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas.
